Desiree potato seed is a long oval variety high yielding, medium to large red skinned tubers. A heavy cropper with pale yellow flesh and floury texture.

It's probably just about the worlds most popular red skinned potato - probably helped here in the UK by positive comments from our much loved celebrity cook Delia Smith. Has good all round cooking qualities.

Good drought resistance but susceptible to potato cyst nematode, spraing, mosaic viruses and can become mis-shapen on wet heavy soils.

Waxy potatoes are firmer and hold their shape. Floury potatoes are softer and break up more easily. The potato varieties mentioned on this web site are suggestions only and there are many more available.
