My Horticultural Beginnings

I am at Somerset College and it is part of the course to work at the horticultural centre.

The first day we went to the centre we made a plan of what we were going to do.

We started work at the HTC by building the poly tunnel which is a frame made from metal and covered with plastic.

We made some raised flower beds out of wood after which we planted peas, garlic, potatoes, onion, and tomatoes.

The soil was prepared by mixing plant food with it to help the plants grow.

I was a mature SCAT-y student (I only live 12 miles from Taunton), I did my Biology GCE O level there 27 years ago at evening classes. I hope you get the bug for gardening and growing vegetables in particular.
