Raised Garden Beds In Poly Tunnel
The vegetable project 4/3/09
I am a student at Somerset College of Arts and Technology and our project is situated in Taunton, Somerset.
Starting with a small piece of land and a large poly tunnel, we are growing potatoes, rhubarb and different types of herbs and more recently peas and other vegetable varieties.
The gardening tools we use are spades, shovels, claw rakes and hoes plus many other types of equipment.
Plants and vegetables are grown in raised beds and a small shed is used to store most of the tools.
Manure and compost were mixed in to our soil to provide food for the plants.
Mypex ground cover was laid to protect our plants and bulbs by supressing weed growth and hopefully slugs.
Our poly tunnel is part of our college course, it warms the soil inside it and has a warmer temperature. This makes for a longer growing season.
We work as a team to produce our vegetables.
Comment:
It's great seeing how you have the opportunity to experience growing vegetables. I hope you are enjoying this project because when you come to taste those freshly grown vegetables you will know it was worth all the effort.
Well done.
