Getting Ready to Add More Soil to my Raised Bed

Hello all.

I moved to Mid West United States about three growing seasons ago and I’m still trying to figure out when the best time is to put plants in the ground. It’s not uncommon to get hit with a blizzard as late as the 2nd week of May, or even later here.

I’ve been gardening for years and adjusting to this climate is a challenge.

I’m an avid composter and 93% of all organic kitchen waste to include dairy and leftover meat scraps are composted. I love my Nature Mill composter. That being said I use a mixture of leaf mold, store bought soil, vermin-compost and in home compost (Nature Mill) to produce a lush growing environment for a mix of vegetables and flowers.
